Kubistische werken op Cubism and Abstract Art.

Op de tentoonstelling Cubism and Abstract Art waren kubistische werken van Alexander Archipenko, George Braque, Robert Delaunay, Marcel Duchamp, Raymond Duchamp-Villon, Roger de la Fresnaye, Albert Gleizes, Juan Gris, Henri Laurens, Henri Laurens, Le Corbusier, Fernand Léger, Jacques Lipchitz, Kasimir Malevich, Louis Marcoussis, Piet Mondriaan, Antoine Pevsner en Pablo Picasso.

Aangezien niet alle werken in de catalogus waren afgebeeld is het van sommige werken niet duidelijk of het werk kubistisch genoemd kan worden. Deze werken zijn hieronder afwezig. Een bijkomend probleem is de naamgeving van een werk. Vaak was de naam niet door de schilder aan het werk gegeven en werd de naam pas bij het inrichten van een tentoonstelling of bij het maken van een catalogus vastgesteld. Dat hierdoor soms vreemde titels werden gegeven blijkt ook op deze tentoonstelling. Het nevenstaande schilderij van Picasso uit 1909 kreeg de titel The tube of paint, denkelijk wegens het nevenstaande detail. Het is echter een fles Anis del Mono, een Catalaanse likeur, die opvalt door zijn geruite oppervlak. Op een tekening, die ook op de tentoonstelling Cubism and Abstract Art onder nummer 211 te zien was, was de fles duidelijk zichtbaar. Het werk heeft nu de titel Nature morte à la bouteille d'anis del Mono.

Opmerking

Het bovenstaande schilderij nr. 208 Head of a woman van Picasso uit 1908-1909 was tot 1978 te zien in het Museu de Arte Moderna te Rio de Janeiro. In 1978 trof een grote brand het museum en ging 90% van de collectie, waaronder dit schilderij, verloren.
